Faculty Position

The College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in swine health and production medicine. The successful applicant will join a team of other faculty members in swine health and production. The swine health and production faculty members currently benefit from excellent collaborative relations with faculty in other CVM departments, the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, and other veterinary colleges and research institutions. The swine health and production faculty members have mutually beneficial relationships with swine veterinarians and pork producers in North Carolina. As part of the College's reorganization and commitment to agriculture, the swine health and production group is an integral component of a new department, which focuses on food animal production and population medicine.

Candidates must have a recognized veterinary degree and an advanced degree (MS, PhD, or other). Candidates must have demonstrated research activity with a clear emphasis in an area of swine research. Desirable attributes include experience in collegiate teaching, experience in clinical swine medicine and modern swine production, effective communication skills, and an ability to interact with students, veterinarians, and pork producers.

The faculty member will be expected to develop an independent swine research program, develop and contribute to undergraduate, professional, and postgraduate education programs, and participate in continuing education programs in swine health and production. The faculty member will be responsible for conducting veterinary services for pork producers as an extension of the instructional program. The faculty member will be expected to develop innovative methods for the delivery of veterinary services to the pork industry and swine veterinarians of North Carolina.

The position is at the assistant professor rank and is available beginning July 1, 2001. Closing date for applications is March 31, 2001 or until a suitable candidate is recruited. Technical Leader - Health Management Center

Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Technical Leader within the Health Management Center (HMC), located in Ames, Iowa.

Primary responsibilities for this position are:

  • Providing technical oversight to HMC projects,
  • Coordinating the design and development of HMC project plans and protocols,
  • Coordinating research and learning for the HMC,
  • Developing and providing technical training and education to BIVI personnel and customers, and
  • Coordinating process improvement for HMC operations.

The qualified candidate will have a post-graduate degree (MS, PhD, and (or) MBA), with a DVM degree (or equivalent). The qualified candidate will also have strong protocol design, analytical (statistical, epidemiological), writing, and presentation skills. Also, candidates with pig production experience, experience working in large organizations, project management experience, and experience with financial analysis are preferred.
