Position available – Extension / research

The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine at Urbana-Champaign is seeking applications for the position of Swine Extension Veterinarian and Director of Research Stations. This position is a full-time, tenure-track position as assistant professor beginning September 1, 1998. Salary is negotiable.

To qualify, the candidate must have a DVM or equivalent degree, substantial field experience in swine production medicine, and a broad knowledge of the swine industry. Preference will be given to the individual with an advanced degree and demonstration of excellent oral and written communication skills.

Duties will include developing and conducting long-range effective continuing education and extension programs that will support the veterinary profession and swine industry in controlling and preventing diseases of swine. The responsibilities of the Director of Research Stations will include maintenance of herd health programs and coordination of facilities and personnel for faculty research project on the College’s research farms. The teaching duties will include participation in the College teaching programs in areas of the candidate’s expertise and interest. The research duties will include participating in interdisciplinary swine health research in cooperation with other researchers.

Position available – Research assistantship

I have at least one PhD graduate research assistantship available for a DVM graduate to start 1 July/August 1998. Degree could be in Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Preventive Medicine, or Immunobiology at Iowa State University.

Research to focus on epidemiologic aspects of multi-site production and infectious agent elimination via isolated weaning.

Swine veterinarian wanted

The Pork Group, part of the Tyson Foods Family of Rogers, Arkansas is seeking a veterinarian for its Central Oklahoma operations. Primary responsibilities include managing herd health and conducting in-house educational programs. A DVM is required.
