Midwest Golf Outing – August 23 2012
Thursday, August 23, 2012 • 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Mark your calendar and practice your swine – er, swing: the AASV Foundation’s annual golf outing is set for Thursday, August 23, at Iowa State University’s Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames, Iowa. The event offers the perfect opportunity to engage with fellow AASV members and industry professionals (just do your best to avoid engaging with the trees and water hazards on the course!).
Members of AASV, industry stakeholders, and guests are invited to register a four-person team to enjoy this friendly 18-hole best-ball tournament. Individuals and couples are also welcome to register and will be assigned to a team. Golfers will test their combined skills against the challenges of the course and compete in individual contests along the way. Registrations, due August 9, may be submitted on the form below.
Golfer check-in begins at 10:00 am the day of the event, with the driving range available for warming up with a few practice balls. The four-person team, best-ball competition gets underway at 11:00 am with a shotgun start. Box lunches and beverages will be supplied on-course. Following the golfing, team and individual contest winners will be recognized during a pork chop dinner.
The registration fee includes 18 holes of best-ball golf, cart rental, lunch, beverages, awards dinner, and prizes. Proceeds from the outing provide support for the AASV Foundation as it seeks to “ensure our future…create a legacy” for swine veterinarians. Income generated by the event helps fund foundation programs such as swine externship grants for veterinary students, travel stipends for students attending the AASV annual meeting, research funding, student intern support, and member recollection videos.
