2011 AASV Foundation Midwest Golf Outing
Landsmeer Golf Club • Orange City, Iowa
Thursday, August 25, 2011 • 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Golfers can look forward to new challenges at this year’s AASV Foundation Midwest Golf Outing! The event will be held August 25 at the Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa.
Reflecting the Dutch heritage of the area, Landsmeer means “lake of the land” in the Dutch language. It’s the perfect description for this prairie-style course that sprawls over 160 acres of rolling hills. The course features bentgrass greens and bluegrass fairways bordered by tall rippling native grasses – the “lake of the land.” In addition, two water-filled lakes and streams provide challenges on the front nine, while the back side features a more links-style layout. The Iowa Golf Association named Landsmere “Iowa’s 18-Hole Course of the Year” in 2008, and Golf Digest echoed that sentiment by calling it the “Best Municipal Course to Play in Iowa” in 2009.
The Foundation invites AASV members, industry stakeholders, and guests to register a team to enjoy this friendly 18-hole best-ball tournament. Golfers will test their skills against the challenges of the course and compete in additional contests along the way. Individuals and couples are also welcome to register and will be assigned to a team. Registrations are due August 11 and may be submitted on the form below.
Golfer check-in begins at 10:00 am the day of the event, with the driving range available for warming up with a few practice balls. The four-person team, best-ball competition gets underway at 11:00 am with a shotgun start. Box lunches and beverages will be supplied on-course, and a pork chop dinner will follow the golfing to recognize team and individual contest winners.
The registration fee includes 18 holes of best-ball golf, cart rental, lunch, beverages, awards dinner, and prizes. Proceeds from the outing provide support for the AASV Foundation as it seeks to “Ensure our future…create a legacy” for swine veterinarians. Income generated by the event helps fund Foundation programs such as swine externship grants for veterinary students, travel stipends for students attending the AASV Annual Meeting, research funding, and student intern support.
