Faculty position

The University of Illinois Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine has a full-time, 100% (12-month basis), tenure track or clinical, assistant, associate, or full professor position available in Swine Medicine-Swine Production Medicine within the section of Farm Animal Reproduction, Medicine, and Surgery. Primary responsibilities are to provide leadership and participate in the clinical and instructional programs in the area of swine medicine and production. Development of a funded research program or participation in collaborative research, as well as mentoring of graduate students, will be commensurate with rank and track. The successful candidate will participate in field service work, primarily with swine clients and the university swine farms, and contribute to the fulfillment of section responsibilities as assigned by the section head. Participation in continuing education programs and interaction with swine producers, practitioners, and state and national organizations will be expected. A DVM degree or equivalent and experience with the swine industry are required. One or more of the following qualifications are desirable: advanced academic degree; board certification with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners or American College of Theriogenology; and experience in research, clinical or didactic instruction, large animal practice, or swine production. Good communication skills are required for the teaching of professional and graduate students as well as interacting with colleagues and the public. Salary is commensurate with applicant’s experience and qualifications.
