AASV Foundation Endowed Lectures
Financial gifts to the AASV Foundation established the following keynote lectures presented at the AASV Annual Meeting.
Howard Dunne Memorial Lecture
At the suggestion of Dr. Allen Leman, a financial gift made by the 1976 IPVS Congress organizers to the fledgling American Association of Swine Practitioners was combined with additional association funds to endow this prestigious annual lecture in remembrance and honor of Dr. Howard W. Dunne. The inaugural lecture was presented in 1978.
Alex Hogg Memorial Lecture
A $50,000 bequest from Dr. Alex Hogg’s estate was combined with memorial gifts from family and friends to create the Alex Hogg Memorial Fund. The proceeds from this endowed fund provide support for the Alex Hogg Memorial Lecture and the Hogg Scholarship. The lecture has been presented annually since its inception in 2007.
Angela Baysinger Memorial Lecture
This lecture is to be given annually by an individual with expertise in animal welfare science. The objective for the lecture is the education of members on current work in animal welfare in the lecturer’s current species with comparisons and contrasts to swine medicine, if applicable. Secondly, the lecture should educate members about opportunities and challenges for the improvement of animal welfare, providing practical examples.
