The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is publishing an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPR) to solicit public comments on a new approach to indemnity valuation and a new indemnity framework. This approach aims to standardize and provide greater consistency to the livestock indemnification process.

The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service in cooperation with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service – Wildlife Services, is conducting a Feral Swine Damage Survey to measure the costs of feral swine damage to crop producers growing corn, soybeans, wheat, rice, peanuts and sorghum in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.

In response to requests, stakeholders will have an additional 30 days to share their thoughts on the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) strategic plan to guide the agency’s work over the next 5 years. Comments must be received by July 31, 2022. APHIS appreciates insights from all stakeholders and is looking forward to reviewing and considering these insights as we finalize the new strategic plan. We expect to finalize and publish the new strategic plan this fall and will post it on the APHIS website.
