Seaboard Foods Offers Veterinary Internship

The Seaboard Foods veterinarian internship gives veterinary students insight and experience in population medicine as it is applied in an integrated pork production system. The veterinarian internship will provide hands-on and technical training in veterinarian practices, including necropsy, blood and tissue collection, differential diagnosis lists, developing action and treatment plans, conducting health audits, and managing other health concerns as they arise. The veterinary internship may require several mini-projects as assigned by the veterinary staff throughout the summer. This internship is a paid internship, with housing and utility costs provided. The internship is approximately eight (8) weeks and is located in Guymon, Oklahoma.

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine is pleased to announce the awards of the 2016 graduate Pijoan and Leman Fellowships to Dr. Amanda Sponheim and Dr. Jorge Garrido in the areas of Mycoplasma and influenza research, respectively. Interested in pursuing graduate education in swine health and productivity? The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine has available two Fellowships, the Carlos Pijoan Fellowship and the Leman Fellowship to pursue a MS or PhD in the areas of swine production and medicine. Students will be exposed to a science based interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving encompassing the areas of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, population health, swine productivity and disease prevention, control and elimination, and will join a vibrant and passionate group of faculty and graduate students devoted to tackling significant problems that impact swine and human health.

The Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine (ISU CVM) is seeking veterinary student applicants for two distinct, swine-specific internship programs, the Swine Medicine Applied Research Internship (SMARI) with the Swine Medicine Education Center (SMEC), and the Swine Veterinary Internship Program (SVIP). Both SMEC and SVIP have several openings for summer 2017 and are uniquely different programs.

NPPC Offers Veterinary Student Externships

The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) has an externship opportunity for four senior veterinary students annually. The externships are two weeks in length and take place in Washington, D.C. and other relevant locations. The goal of the program is to expose students to the role of veterinarians in public policy and regulation at the national level.
