Discover the scope of veterinary medicine in the federal government while expanding your understanding of the veterinarian’s role in the legislative process. Meet with legislators to advocate the AVMA’s legislative agenda and network with staff and veterinarians from Capitol Hill, regulatory agencies, and other DC-based organizations.

The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) is offering a veterinary government relations externship opportunity for three (3), 4th-year veterinary students for the spring of 2023 (March 27th-April 7th). The externship is two weeks in length and will take place in Washington, D.C. The goal of the program is to expose students to the pivotal role of veterinarians in public policy, advocacy, legislation and regulation at the national level. Application deadline is September 9, 2022.

Aurora Pharmaceutical, Inc., a veterinary pharmaceutical product development, manufacturing and marketing company headquartered in Northfield, MN, announced May 1 they have finalized the selection of 21 third-year veterinary students who will be receiving scholarship funds to assist in their veterinary degrees.
