Early Bird Registration Extended – ISU McKean Swine Disease Conference

We are eager to bring back a transformed 2024 ISU McKean Swine Disease Conference at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center. The conference will be held on Wednesday July 24, 2024 as a one day meeting prior to Iowa Swine Day, which will be held on Thursday July 25, 2024. Although the events are separate, this provides the opportunity to feature two extraordinary conferences here in Ames.

AASV Committees Plan Work for 2024

The AASV Board of Directors establishes committees to address specific issues associated with swine veterinary medicine and provide recommendations for action to the AASV leadership. The AASV committees are a critical part of the leadership structure within AASV, and they also serve as a great way for members to participate in developing positions for the association, learn about important issues, network with other members, and develop their own leadership skills. The AASV members, leaders, and staff greatly appreciate the efforts of more than 300 volunteer members who serve on at least one committee.

SMEC Focused on Lifelong Education, Swine Research

The Swine Medicine Education Center at Iowa State University was formed in 2010 with the mission to demonstrate the best practices for clinical swine medicine to veterinary students, veterinarians and industry stakeholders. These individuals could then apply the skills and techniques to improve swine health, ensure pork safety and maintain sustainability within their herds or for their clients. Since SMEC’s beginnings over 13 years ago, we have provided education and resources to veterinary students, veterinarians, and industry stakeholders in 97 countries.
