2020 NARMS Update

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS), its partners in the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS), is released the 2020 NARMS Update: Integrated Report Summary.

Submit By Aug 15: AASV Research Topics Abstract

Plans are underway for the 55th annual meeting of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) to take place February 24-27, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee. As part of the meeting, there will be an oral and a poster session highlighting research projects related to swine health and production (virology, bacteriology, parasitology, environment, food safety, odor, welfare, etc.). Abstracts are now being accepted to be considered for presentation during the Research Topics session, which will be held Sunday, February 25. Submissions are due August 15 (firm deadline).

Call for Abstracts: AASV 2024 Student Seminar and Poster Scholarship Competition

The American Association of Swine Veterinarians announces an opportunity for veterinary students to make a scientific presentation at the AASV Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Interested students are invited to submit a one-page abstract of a research paper, clinical case study, or literature review for consideration. The submitting student must be a current (2023-24) student member of the AASV at the time of submission, and must not have graduated from veterinary school prior to February 25, 2024. Submissions are limited to one (1) abstract per student.

FDA Seeks Public Comment on Possible Framework for Collecting and Analyzing Data on Antimicrobial Use in Food-Producing Animals

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration opened a docket to seek public comment on a report outlining a potential framework for establishing a public-private partnership (PPP) to collect and analyze antimicrobial use (AMU) data from food-producing animals. The report was prepared for the FDA by the Reagan-Udall Foundation (the Foundation) and summarizes the work completed over a multi-year cooperative agreement funded by the FDA. Under this agreement, the Foundation convened a working group to evaluate the feasibility of developing and maintaining a system to collect and report AMU data in the United States.
