Wellness Wednesday – Emotional Wellbeing tip: Debrief as a group after particularly taxing cases or challenging interactions. Work together to identify what about the situation was distressing and how you can mitigate that distress in the future.

Webinar: SHIC/AASV Industry Chatter Will Address Porcine Sapovirus

On August 30, the Swine Health Information Center and American Association of Swine Veterinarians will host a webinar on porcine sapovirus, a potentially emerging disease. The Zoom webinar, conducted by the Swine Medicine Education Center at Iowa State University, will be held from 1 pm to 2:30 pm CDT via Zoom. Speakers will address field experience with PSaV including clinical presentation, production impacts, control/response strategies, and other insights.

Last Call for Abstracts: AASV Research Topics Due August 15

Plans are underway for the 55th annual meeting of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) to take place February 24-27, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee. As part of the meeting, there will be an oral and a poster session highlighting research projects related to swine health and production (virology, bacteriology, parasitology, environment, food safety, odor, welfare, etc.). Abstracts are now being accepted to be considered for presentation during the Research Topics session, which will be held Sunday, February 25. Submissions are due August 15 (firm deadline).

People on the Move: Dr. Gaurav Rawal

After receiving a Master’s degree in epidemiology and a PhD in virology at Iowa State University, Dr. Gaurav Rawal has relocated to South Dakota where he is now employed by Clinvet SD as Principal Specialist: Study Management. Clinvet is a global veterinary contract research organization (CRO) that conducts in vitro, preclinical, and clinical trials to evaluate animal health products’ safety, metabolism, and efficacy. The company also offers field and laboratory pesticide efficacy testing services to the chemical, public health, and aerosol industries.
