Who is Leading AASV into the Future? Nominate Them for an Award!

As AASV opens nominations for the awards to be presented at the 2024 annual meeting, it seems especially appropriate to keep the meeting theme – Leading AASV into the Future – in mind. Do you know a member who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and vision as they carry out their role in practice, tech services, academia, research, or another area? Someone whose actions are benefiting and leading AASV and the swine veterinary profession into the future? Nominate them for one of the following six awards to be presented in Nashville, Tennessee! Nominations are due December 11.

Wellness Wednesday – Occupational Wellbeing Tip: Determine the Myers-Briggs, DiSC, or Insights classifications or Strengths Profiles for everyone on your team. This will create a better understanding of communication styles and help everyone take responsibility for working together in a positive, considerate way.

Yee haw! AASV is headed to Nashville, Tennessee, the home of country music, Honky Tonk Highway, and the Grand Ole Opry! As you dig those cowboy boots out of the closet and start practicing your line dance moves, take a few minutes to think about how you can “step up” to support the AASV Foundation fundraising auction!

Pork Producers Deserve a Seat in Post-Harvest Food Policy Discussions

When we talk about advocacy in animal health and welfare, pre-harvest activities come to mind. Funding and strengthening programs to protect the nation’s pig herd from a foreign animal disease is a vital priority. Equally important are post-harvest policy issues such as food safety, human nutrition and responsible antibiotic use – key topics NPPC is discussing on a national and global stage.
