Every day, independent family farms across the country rely on Pipestone Veterinary Services to provide outstanding veterinary care to assist with their ability to provide a wholesome food source to help feed the growing world. We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual to join our fast-paced veterinary team based in Sycamore, Illinois as we continue our next phase of growth. As a swine veterinarian, you already have a pretty good idea of the day-to-day requirements associated with this type of job, but here are a few we would like to highlight.

Position Announcement: Senior Staff Veterinarian

Topigs Norsvin USA is currently searching for a Senior Staff Veterinarian. This position will provide technical expertise in health management, including biosecurity and production practices. The Senior Staff Veterinarian must possess the ability to evaluate pig production systems and to develop and manage strategies that maintain high health and improve genetic performance. The Senior Staff Veterinarian will work with both internal Topigs Norsvin USA (TNUSA) farms as well as customers to evaluate, advise and make recommendations to support the performance of TNUSA products.

Upcoming Support Groups: Veterinary Hope Foundation

With a mission of supporting mental health, the Veterinary Hope Foundation offers small group sessions for veterinary professionals. These groups provide a community to share common experiences as well as resources and information specific to the profession. During the six-week program, support groups of eight people meet online each week.

States Begin to Restrict Cattle Imports from those with Influenza Cases

In an effort to prevent domestic cattle from being exposed to highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI, more specifically avian influenza Type A H5N1), 17 states have restricted cattle importations from states where the virus is known to have infected dairy cows: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, and West Virginia. April 19 SHIC/AASV Webinar Will Address HPAI in Livestock and Risk to Swine

For the first time in the US, highly pathogenic avian influenza has been identified in domestic livestock including goats and dairy cattle. To understand the threat HPAI poses to domestic livestock species, and to inform producers on actions that can be taken to reduce the risk of infection on-farm, the Swine Health Information Center in collaboration with the American Association of Swine Veterinarians will host a webinar on influenza A viruses on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm CST.
