AASV e-Letter Sponsorship
The AASV e-Letter is a weekly newsletter emailed Wednesday nights to members of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians.
A limited number of opportunities to “sponsor” the e-Letter are available. Please contact the Executive Director, Dr. Harry Snelson (snelson@aasv.org) if your organization is interested.
Please ask Dave Brown (IT Specialist, dave@aasv.org) if you have any technical questions.
Components of the advertising package
We need the following (email to David Brown, dave@aasv.org, ideally a week before it should be live):
- Static image in the “leaderboard” standard IAB size of 728×90 pixels
- The date the campaign should begin
- You may schedule any number of campaigns in advance
- You may “pick up” images from prior use; this is actually a little easier for us than if you resend identical content (it’s already in the database).
- The URL to which any clicks will be redirected
Optionally, you may also provide:
- A 2x-resolution version of your image (1456×180 pixels).
- Devices with high resolutions screens may request to load this image instead of the standard resolution image (see below).
- It will share the same link and alt text and should be the same image, just higher resolution
- This is implemented using HTML’s
srcset="link-to-2x-image.jpg 2x"
image attribute which is almost universally supported (https://caniuse.com/?search=srcset).
- Your preferred “alt text” that will be displayed (or read) when the image is not visible.
- Dave usually creates this for you by transcribing the visible text in the image.
Leaderboard resolution example
Images are displayed responsively to fill 100% of the text area width.
The following leaderboard image will be displayed at 2x resolution if your device requests it:
This version will only be displayed at standard resolution (it does not include the srcset attribute):
Where the advertising is displayed
Each week’s AASV e-Letter begins with one sponsor’s advertisement displayed across the top of the AASV e-Letter above the table of contents. The second advertisement is displayed just below the table of contents. Additional advertisements are placed between stories spread throughout the AASV e-Letter.
The position assigned to each sponsor rotates downward by one position weekly. So whichever sponsor’s campaign was nearest the bottom in one week will move up to the top position the following week.
Online
On each page view in the /news/ section of the AASV web site (https://aasv.org/news/ or any individual story), a sponsor will be selected at random and their current advertisement will be displayed above the headline.
