Iowa State University, the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph and the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science will co-host an international symposium July 14-16, 2008 entitled " Across species, across disciplines, across borders; opportunities for welfare and epidemiology scientists."
The overall objective for this conference is to create awareness of the unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research involving animal welfare and epidemiology.
- Discuss fundamental research and techniques that have been developed to date inepidemiology and animal welfare science.
- To identify research opportunities in the interface between epidemiology and animal welfare science.
- To identify opportunities for scientists to develop research programs with an epidemiology and welfare focus.
- To facilitate collaborative efforts between established epidemiology and welfare groups to develop collaborative efforts across species, disciplines and borders.
The conference will be held at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and include distinguished speakers offering a wide range of experience and expertise. The conference will focus on all livestock species.
