The Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec is proud to announce the awarding of the 2024 Order of Veterinary Merit to Dr. Robert Desrosiers. He received the honors during the Order’s President’s Tour, which was at the Best Western Universel in Drummondville on Wednesday, October 16. Nearly 130 veterinarians and guests were present for the occasion.
The Order of Veterinary Merit recognizes the dedication of a veterinarian, their exemplary service, their ethics and their professionalism. Dr. Gaston Rioux, President of the Order, highlights the remarkable contribution of the recipients of this award:
“The careers of the veterinarians who have received this award are exceptional. These professionals have sprinkled their careers with many innovative achievements, helping to brilliantly promote the veterinary profession. All of this is embroidered with close collaborative ties that they maintain with their colleagues, and enriching relationships that they build with clients. Their dedication is unparalleled.”
From the beginning of his career, Dr. Desrosiers has demonstrated great availability and increased attention to solving problems affecting swine health and production. Thanks to his impressive scientific, technical and epidemiological knowledge, he quickly became an international reference. His expertise has led, among other things, to significant changes in the location of swine production units and the implementation of new biosecurity measures, including the filtration of air intakes in production buildings.
Author of numerous articles and popular texts, Dr. Desrosiers has given more than 200 conferences in at least 20 countries. Despite his great reputation, he has always maintained a deep modesty and a closeness with swine practitioners, taking advantage of discussions or farm visits to exchange and update his understanding of a constantly changing field. Known to all stakeholders in the Quebec swine sector, this attentive, curious and generous man has been promoting his colleagues, his profession, his province, his country and his knowledge for more than thirty years.
