SHIC Lit Review Outlines Current Information and Knowledge Gaps for H5N1 Risk to Swine – The goal of the literature review was to help identify highest priority research needs for H5N1 risk to the swine industry, assist in the process of influenza prevention and response planning for pork producers, and provide a summary of the clinical presentation of H5N1 in livestock compared to other known influenza strains. (November 6, 2024)
Executive Director’s message: High Path AI, it’s not just for poultry anymore – Continued surveillance and sample submissions are critically important (November 1, 2024)

Influenza Virus Surveillance in Swine Program Overview
Influenza A Virus in Swine Surveillance – OctoFLU (USDA) — The purpose of the site is to summarize the genetic diversity of influenza A virus in swine submitted to the national USDA influenza A virus in swine passive surveillance program. octoFLU Show provides a graphical dashboard of these changes and is maintained by the Flu-Crew at the National Animal Disease Center, USDA-ARS.

Measures to Minimize Influenza Transmission at Swine Exhibitions (2018) — The Swine Exhibitions Zoonotic Influenza Working Group developed a set of measures to minimize influenza virus transmission between swine, from people to swine, and from swine to people at swine exhibitions. These measures were formulated based on current evidence and the collective knowledge of the Working Group. The suggested measures are organized to address activities before, during, and after swine exhibitions. Measures are further divided into actions that may minimize risk to swine and risk to humans, although there is significant overlap between those two groups.
