Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd offers opportunities to veterinary students to participate in a veterinary externship program.
Students will work alongside veterinarians during their externship. Site visits will include herd evaluations, necropsies, serological profiling, ventilation auditing, as well as biosecurity auditing. Non-veterinary experience may include pig flows, production targets, record analysis, sow and/or wean-to-finish research with our PhD nutritionist and research team as well as farm production visits with production teams. Externs will participate in herd staff discussions and will write a herd visit report. Our externship program is open to all full-time veterinary students who have completed at least 2 full years of school and are studying veterinary medicine. Students selected must obtain professional liability insurance prior to their externship.
