Dr. Catherine Harris recently accepted a position as the Director of Livestock Programs for the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Veterinary Division. In her new role, it is her responsibility to promote agriculture and animal health, provide industry support, facilitate collaboration to develop plans and solutions to animal health concerns, engage in regulatory duties for rabbits, captive cervid, swine, goats, sheep, horses and cattle, as well as to assist with emergency response efforts as needed for the State of North Carolina’s livestock industries. A 2008 DVM graduate of North Carolina State University, she was previously employed by Smithfield Foods. Dr. Harris’s updated contact information is available at aasv.org/directory.
