The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship position, which will involve conducting independent and field research, with an emphasis in field epidemiology in swine populations. This position will work in conjunction with current and emerging projects as part of the IPIC. The incumbent will be expected to work closely with industry stakeholders to facilitate industry guidance on experimental design, statistical analysis and training as part of their extension and outreach efforts. As a result, we expect excellent organizational skills, outstanding written and oral communication, and the ability to work as a team member but also independently in a leadership role. As a component of the position, the candidate will be expected to lead the development and delivery of an industry focused workshops on statistical methods and experimental approaches for field research to support production and allied industry companies.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a biological sciences field and/or statistics.
- At least two years of experience working in the swine industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in basic Microsoft Office programs and statistical software packages such as R or SAS.
- Documented experience with grant writing, designing and conducting field trials
- Demonstrated ability to analyze small and large data sets using advanced software packages.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. swine production system.
- Experience working with large data sets as it relates to swine production.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with industry partners
