Representing the states of Illinois and Wisconsin is District 5 Director Dr. Bill Hollis. Dr. Hollis has served as an AASV District Director since 2014; his second term expires in 2020.
Dr. Hollis received his BS in animal science in 1992 and his DVM in 1996, both from the University of Illinois. He is a partner in Carthage Veterinary Services and President of Professional Swine Management. His primary role is with the production management business, with operations of 32 sow herds for independent clients and breeding stock multiplication.
Since joining AASV in 1994 as a student, Dr. Hollis has served AASV as a student representative, the AVMA Delegate, and has been a member of the Operation Mainstreet committee. He sought additional leadership opportunities on the AASV Board of Directors to support the growth and education of AASV members.
In the next 18 months, Dr. Hollis hopes AASV can continue to develop international relationships. He would also like to see the organization provide educational opportunities for laboratory and technical staff from AASV member practices and businesses.
When asked for advice he would give to other members, Dr. Hollis encourages members to "Remain persistent and work hard for the health and welfare of the pigs in our care."
In his spare time, Dr. Hollis likes to work on old cars.
