In order to increase the list of sample types approved for ASF and CSF testing in NAHLN labs, Lymph Node has been officially added to the list of approved samples for ASF and CSF PCR. [Source: USDA}
As of January 31, 2019, Lymph Node is an approved sample for both ASF and CSF PCR in a foreign animal disease (FAD) investigation only. An active surveillance testing plan is being developed that will describe how Lymph Node may be incorporated into active surveillance. This will be announced once it is finalized and approved. Until then, the only ASF and CSF testing using Lymph Node in NAHLN labs should be within an FAD investigation.
Currently approved sample types for ASF and CSF PCR in a foreign animal disease (FAD) investigation include:
- Whole Blood (ASF only)
- Tonsil (ASF and CSF)
- Spleen (ASF and CSF)
- Lymph Node (ASF and CSF)
