Full-time Attending Veterinarian position in the DC metro area, specifically for the USDA/Agricultural Research Service located in Beltsville, Maryland.
The Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) is the largest and most comprehensive agricultural research complex in the world. The noteworthy accomplishments of the scientists have made them international leaders in their respective scientific disciplines. The BARC works toward providing people with healthy crops and animals; clean and renewable natural resources; sustainable agricultural systems; and agricultural commodities and products that are abundant, high-quality, and safe.
The Veterinary Services Unit (VSU) provides service and support to BARC scientists using animals in research programs, Research Support Services personnel to provide medical, surgical and obstetrical care for all animals and to provide guidance and oversight to the Animal Care Compliance Office to ensure that animal research conducted at BARC is in compliance with all animal welfare laws and regulations. The BARC conducts a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive research program involving beef and dairy cattle, swine, sheep, goats, poultry and various species of laboratory animals.
Livestock and poultry experience is preferred and small laboratory experience desirable.
