Position Announcement: Veterinary Diagnostic Pathologist

The Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, South Dakota State University invites applications for a Diagnostic Pathology position as a 12-month tenure-track assistant, associate or possibility for full professor. The laboratory is an AAVLD-accredited, full-service laboratory in the Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Department. The caseload consists primarily of spontaneous disease problems in livestock, but includes a diverse range of species and case types.

The duties are 70% diagnostic service including necropsies, histopathologic examinations, and consultation with laboratory clients, and 15% research and 15% teaching (primarily team teaching and/or pathology resident training) in animal disease problems significant to South Dakota and the region.

A DVM degree from an AVMA-accredited and approved veterinary college or passing of the foreign graduate equivalency examination, documentation of a minimum of 3 years of training in comparative veterinary pathology (e.g. residency or MS/PhD in veterinary pathology) are minimal qualifications. Effective communication (oral and written), collaborations and interpersonal relations skills are expected. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
