Golfers, mark your calendar and practice your swine – er, swing: the AASV Foundation’s annual golf outing is set for Thursday, August 23, at Iowa State University’s Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames, Iowa. AASV members and industry supporters are invited to register a team (or individual) to golf in support of the AASV Foundation!
Golfer check-in begins at 10:00 am the day of the event. Refreshments will be provided along with an opportunity to hit a few practice balls on the driving range. The 4-person team, best-ball competition begins with a shotgun start at 11:00 am. Box lunches (sponsored by CLARCOR Air Filtration Products) and beverages (sponsored by Harrisvaccines) will be provided on-course. The awards dinner, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, will follow the golfing to recognize team and individual contest winners. Registration includes 18 holes of best-ball golf, cart rental, morning refreshments, lunch, and the awards dinner and prizes. The event is expected to conclude by 6:00 pm.
Proceeds from the golf outing provide support for the AASV Foundation as it seeks to "Ensure our future…create a legacy" for swine veterinarians. Income generated by the event enables the Foundation to fund programs such as the swine externship grants for veterinary students, travel stipends for students attending the AASV annual meeting, and funding for research with direct application to the profession.
