Registration and abstract submission for the 2011 International PRRS Symposium are now open at www.prrssymposium.org. The deadline for abstract submissions is August 25, 2011. The symposium will be held Friday and Saturday, December 2-3, 2011 at the Downtown Marriott in Chicago, Ill, prior to the Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD). Separate registration is required for each conference. Those requiring visas are encouraged to register NOW so visa letters can be processed.
The David A. Benfield Student Travel Fellowship Travel award application deadline is also August 25, 2011. Travel award fellowship information for international graduate students is available at www.prrssymposium.org/TopMenu/TravelAwards.aspx.
The symposium’s keynote speakers include Dr. Christopher Walker from The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH and Dr. Asit Pattnaik from the University of Nebraska.
In addition, several internationally renowned scientists have been invited to speak at two pre-symposium workshops to start at 1:00 PM on Friday December 2:
- The PRRSV Elimination and Control Workshop (Dr. Hans Nauwynck, Dr. Scott Dee, and Dr. Leigh Rosengren);
- The Novel Vaccine and Vaccination Strategy Workshop (Dr. Luis Enjuanes, Dr. Chris Roberts, and Dr. XiaoPing Zhu)
Everyone is invited to attend the pre-conference workshops.
Lunch will be provided on Saturday. Due to the rising costs of hosting a meeting, there will be a $75 registration fee this year for non-students. Details for abstract submission, program updates, and a copy of the 2005-2010 symposium proceedings (including abstracts) can be found at the symposium website: www.prrssymposium.org.
