Position Announcement: PIC Health Assurance Veterinarian

POSITION AIM: The successful candidate will have exceptional opportunities participating in the implementation of the PIC Health Assurance Program and working with customer veterinarians on health issues.

REPORTS TO: Director of Health Assurance and Transportation

POSITION LOCATION: Hendersonville, TN

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary college.
  • Experience in swine medicine and production desired but not required.
  • Familiarity with computers, spreadsheets, databases and production records.
  • Outstanding one-on-one and group/team communication and organizational skills.
  • An understanding of modern pork production systems and practical methods for system improvement.
  • Ability to effectively work within large pork production systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide health services to PIC breeding stock multiplication units and PIC customers, which include but are not limited to:
  1. Assist in oversight and monitoring the health program for PIC's contract multiplication.
  2. Provide all necessary/relevant health status information concerning source herds to customers in a timely manner.
  3. Establish effective professional relationships with customers' veterinarians and key production personnel to enable PIC account plan objectives.
  4. Interface with PIC Technical Services, Sales and Supply Chain teams on issues concerning product sources and other health related issues.
  5. Perform health, facility, and biosecurity audits of the PIC multiplication and customer systems.
  6. Provide health and production services to customers to ensure product performance and differentiation of PIC genetics within customer systems.
  7. Provide routine reports and data to the PIC Health Assurance database.
  8. Assist in implementing and assessing the PIC welfare program in PIC multiplication
  • Remain current in area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry and academic contacts, studying literature and attending scientific/industry meetings.
  • Organize and participate in meetings with customers and customer veterinarians.
  • Assist in PIC applied research and the development of novel health technologies.
  • Hold confidential all product and program proprietary knowledge.
