Murphy-Brown’s Western Operations is seeking a Production Improvement Director to be based in Ames, IA. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the production system improvements for the 350,000 sow farrow-to-finish system in eight states. Other responsibilities include
- Leading the Western Operations’ health improvement strategies and providing technical coordination among six veterinarians;
- Working as part of the management team to set the direction and strategy for the company as it relates to production, health and nutritional programs; and
- Coordinating working relationships with key suppliers and academic collaborators that will enhance operations’ profit potential.
Requirements for the position include:
- Minimum DVM degree with additional graduate training (preferably a PhD), with a minimum of ten years of experience in veterinary medicine and pork production, especially in large systems
- Proven excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proven working knowledge of research procedures and statistical analyses;
- Proven working knowledge of swine medicine;
- Proven ability to lead organizational change and improvement;
- Proven time management skills.
