Second Annual Responsible Pork Symposium

Pork Magazine will host the second Annual Responsible Pork Symposium, Feb 23-25, 2009 in Kansas City. Topics will include Animal Well Being, Environment, Human Capital and Food Safety. Join stakeholders from throughout the pork food system and discover what it will take to be responsible to yourself, to our animals and our consumers, not just today, but in the future.

The Responsible Pork Symposium’s mission is to openly discuss successes in producing, transporting, harvesting and delivering pork to the consumer. It’s also designed to ensure that all pork-chain sectors understand their role and responsibility in providing a safe, economical, quality, uniform and efficacious product.

Speakers will emphasize:

  • Ethics in today’s modern pork production industry
  • Moving from being a target to being in charge.
  • Responsibility of stakeholders to communicate and develop "open-doors"
  • Taking responsibility for your actions. Conventional practices, their role, options to consider.
  • Social expectations, consumer demands. Our role in them? Conforming to them?

Additional information is available on the Responsible Pork Symposium web site.
