They all represent tools our creative friends and family members use to recreate pigs and honor the veterinarians who love them (the friends and family members, not the pigs). This week we highlight the creative works of art donated to the AASV Foundation auction.
Carol Rodibaugh, wife of AASV member Dr. Max Rodibaugh, has donated an original painting entitled "Pigmentation" she is creating especially for AASV 2008. This one-of-a-kind artwork will focus on quilt patterns featuring 3 little pigs and a colorful border. If you remember the painting she donated to our 2000 auction, you know the beauty and quality of Carol’s talent.
But, an awesome painting of a quilt is not all we’ve got. Carla Brinkman, wife of AASV member Dr. Mark Brinkman, is donating an original cotton quilt she designed and handmade especially for the AASV auction! The 56"x81" quilt features a wool appliqué farmstead scene with a tree, red barn, silo, windmill, and pig. "AASV 2008" is embroidered under the windmill. The last auction quilt she designed sold for $5250!
For a no-talent hack like me, a chainsaw is just for making little trees out of big trees. Who knew there were pigs hiding in those logs! Thanks to the folks at Genetiporc you’ll have two chances to take home a chainsaw-carved wooden pig for your home or office. Each carving is handcrafted and unique – the shape, design, and color depend on the characteristics of the wood selected by the craftsman.
These are just a few of the items donated to the AASV Foundation for the 2008 auction in San Diego. We want to thank all the folks who have donated items to the foundation and we also want to recognize the allied industries that have made financial contributions in support of the auction as well: Merial, William Blair & Co. Financial Management and Land O’Lakes Purina Feeds. We still need your help however if we’re going to achieve the $50,000 goal the auction committee has set for the 2008 auction. Please visit the AASV Foundation website to donate an item, make a contribution or view all the wonderful items already donated. Remember, you have until December 21st to make your donation and support the future of your foundation!
