Triumph Pork Plant Moves Forward

The East Moline City Council has approved $20 million in tax increment financing (TIF) assistance which will allow Triumph Foods to move forward with its plans for a pork processing plant.

Triumph plans to build a $114 million plant that eventually will employ 1,000 people and process 15,000 hogs per day. Plans for the project were announced in late 2005 and the company intends to purchase land and begin construction this summer. The TIF assistance will be used to expand sewage treatment facilities, extend water and sewer lines to the site and give Triumph money to do on-site improvements.
