Banamine-S Approved for use in Swine

Schering-Plough Animal Health has received approval from the US Food and drug Administration (FDA) for flunixin meglumine use in swine.

According to the announcement in the Federal Register, FDA has approved Schering’s application for the veterinary prescription use of Banamine-S (flunixin meglumine) injectable solution to control pyrexia in swine associated with swine respiratory disease. The drug is to be administered as a single intramuscular injection at a dosage rate of 2.2mg/kg (1.0mg/lb) of body weight. The withdrawal period is 12 days following the last injection.
