District Director Nominations Sought in 2 Districts

Nominations will open soon for positions on the AASV Board of Directors in Districts #3 (AR, KY, MO) and #7 (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, KS, ID, MT, NM, NV, OK, OR, TX, UT, WA, WY). Voting members in both districts will receive emailed links to nominate candidates for their district’s representative. Current directors Drs. Stephen Patterson (District #3) and Maryn Ptaschinski (#7) have each served one 3-year term of office and are eligible to serve a second term if nominated and re-elected.

Nominations must be submitted electronically, either by using the emailed link or by clicking the “Voting, ballots, and surveys” tab in the Member Tools (under the login icon). Potential candidates must be Active (veterinarian) AASV members residing in the district to be represented. Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote. Monday, December 30 is the last day to submit or change a nomination. In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.

After the district director candidates have been confirmed, electronic balloting will open in early 2025. The election results will be announced during the AASV Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California.

Each newly elected director will be invited to observe the spring 2025 board meeting in a non-voting capacity and will serve a three-year term of office that begins at the conclusion of the meeting, scheduled for April 15 and 16.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV; see aasv.org/contacts/ for the current board roster and district apportionment. The Board of Directors meets twice annually (typically in April and September) – often in Des Moines or Perry, Iowa – to set policies and conduct association business. Minutes of past board meetings are available for review at aasv.org/board-meeting-minutes/. Occasionally, the board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions.
