The Veterinarian reports as the division General Manager and is responsible for the development and coordination of all Science and Technology programs as they relate to Holden Farms. This includes herd health, animal welfare, production sciences, pork safety and quality, producer and public health and sustainability.

Essential Job Functions
- Communicate and promote Holden Farm’s core values and goals to employees
- Provide leadership to your teams through strong communication, proactive prioritization and effective delegation
- Effectively collaborate with other Veterinarians, Sow Farm Supervisors, and other Management team members to reach farm and company goals
- Provide veterinarian support to sow farm and nursery/finishing staff and programs
- Support to Research Team (including feed mills)
- Implementation of S.O.P.’s (nursery/finish/sow)
- Packer Relations
- Produce necessary health papers by visiting farms
- Pig flow
- Performance monitoring. (nursery/finish/sow)
- Data integrity (Porcitec/LotTracker)
- Communicate and coordinate programs with all government agencies (USDA, FDA, BAH)
- Responsible for HFI Animal Welfare Program, CIA, PQA and TQA
- Responsible for Veterinarian Feed Directive Program.
- Responsible for Veterinarian Feed Directive Program
- Measure cost/benefit of any current and proposed medication and vaccination programs.
- Medication Cost’s (N/F/S)
Education/Experience
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine
- 5 years’ experience in management of 10 or more employees
- Proficient with computers, smart phones, spreadsheets and databases
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to have difficult conversations and achieve desired results
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
