Welcome to the Profession, New Graduates!

Congratulations! You did it! Welcome to the profession, doctors! As your celebrations wind down and you begin your next journey, you might find the following AASV resources particularly helpful.

Moving to a new home and starting a new job is exciting, but can also be a stressful time in your life. Check out the AASV Wellbeing resources and be proactive about caring for yourself so you can care for others.

Got debt? In a couple of years, you might qualify to apply for the AASV Foundation’s Student Debt Relief Scholarship. In the meantime, keep your membership in force to maintain your eligibility.

See the results of the 2020 AASV Salary Survey. Results from the 2023 Salary Survey will be available in the fall.

The 5th edition of the Swine Disease Manual is available free online for AASV members. You can purchase a print copy ($30 plus shipping) at http://ecom.aasv.org/sdm.

Don’t forget the Swine Information Library has over 17,500 swine conference and journal articles, completely searchable. The Video Library includes recordings from past annual meetings, the 2021 early career conference, webinars, and member recollections.

The AASV Early Career Veterinarian Committee continues to work hard to develop resources for early career swine veterinarians, including a webinar/podcast series, a resource directory, annual meeting seminars, conferences , an early career development program, and other CE dedicated to early career topics.

Please consider volunteering for an AASV committee. The Student Engagement and Early Career committees are great committees to start an AASV leadership journey!

Finally, AASV offers an e-Letter feature called "People on the Move – New Grad Edition" to let members know where the newest veterinary graduates are landing within the profession. We want to recognize and celebrate your achievements – not only receiving your veterinary degree, but also snagging that all-important first position! Watch for an e-mail for more instructions, or send your exciting news to the AASV office at aasv@aasv.org.

Please check your AASV directory listing at aasv.org/directory to make sure your contact information (both mail and email) is current. To adjust your account preferences and access additional membership benefits, log into aasv.org/members.
