Tyson Foods Inc, the world’s largest protein producer and the second-largest food production company in the Fortune 500, is looking for a Senior Veterinarian to join our Pork Group Technical Services team. The Pork Group Senior Veterinarian (Veterinarian II) is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and improvement of its swine herd health, improving the production performance of the swine herd through better environment management and training, oversight of biosecurity, risk management, and disease elimination programs. This includes consulting with all levels of swine management concerning preventative and therapeutic medicine, educating Team Members on animal husbandry, physiology, environment, and animal growth, and ensuring compliance with all agricultural regulations concerning health eradication programs and animal movement.
Responsibilities
- Will be responsible for maintenance of herd health programs and biosecurity programs.
- Will be responsible for coordinating purchases of medications vaccines health related equipment etc.
- Will be responsible for researching and evaluating outside breeding stock for health and production issues.
- Will need to visit farms to evaluate health problems and product usage, work on special research projects, and other responsibilities as needed.

Requirements
- Education: Doctoral degree in a discipline directly related to the job.
- Experience: 6 plus years of experience.
- Computer Skills: Standard computer skills. May require use of the Tyson Business Computer System.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Travel: 12 or more domestic trips per year.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for supervising a group of personnel in a single department or work unit who perform similar and or interrelated tasks and activities.
- Special Skills: A thorough understanding of diseases and disorders detrimental to the welfare of swine.
