The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) seeks to fill the position of Assistant State Veterinarian. The role of the Assistant State Veterinarian is to plan, direct, and manage foreign animal disease (FAD) preparedness and emergency management programs in the Animal Industry Bureau and assist the State Veterinarian.
Position will supervise, direct, and manage foreign animal disease prevention, planning, and preparedness. Applicant chosen will work primarily in the office supervising program staff but may spend time in the field supervising staff in preparing for or during FAD and emergency responses. Candidates will need to be able to work in the field during an FAD. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license for statewide travel and a current Iowa veterinary license. The State of Iowa uses NEOGOV to accept and process applications.
