The industry continues to pursue the validation of oral fluids as a diagnostic sample to be used if ASF or another foreign animal disease enters the US.
To this end, the National Pork Board (NPB) and the Swine Health Information Center (SHIC) are funding research projects in the US, Romania, Vietnam, Uganda, Germany.
Oral fluids are not yet an "approved sample type", but swine vets can also help with this effort! To have a better understanding of how many oral fluid samples will need to be collected from a farm during an outbreak, we need an idea of how many pigs are raised per pen across the industry.
This short survey (2 minute!) is designed to help gather that information. All responses will be anonymous unless an email address is entered at the end of the survey.
