Committee Shoat Out: The Boar Stud Committee updates its name and mission.
During the 2021 spring meeting, the AASV Board of Directors approved the following changes to more accurately describe the work of the Boar Stud Committee (formerly Boar Stud Biosecurity Committee).
Name: Boar Stud Committee
Mission: To mitigate the risk of transferring significant swine pathogens during semen collection, processing, and distribution; and to identify and mitigate any other risks associated with reduced fecundity of semen from boar studs. Update guidelines and any necessary educational materials to promote proper biosecurity protocols. This includes reviewing biosecurity and testing protocols for significant viral diseases.
During 2021, the committee plans to update the AASV Health, Hygiene and Sanitation Guidelines for Boar Studs Providing Semen to the Domestic Market.
