Merck Animal Health offers a field-based position responsible for providing technical support to sales and marketing for our Company’s Animal Health products specific for swine.
- Reporting to the Team Lead, Swine and Poultry, in the Farm Animal Business Unit, the Technical Services Veterinarian is one of a team of veterinarians responsible for providing technical support to the Animal Health field team and our customers for our vaccines and pharmaceuticals.
- The Technical Services Veterinarian will be based in Western Canada with a territory encompassing Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide medical and scientific information about our Company’s Animal Health products as requested by all veterinary clients, swine producers and our Company’s Animal Health marketing and sales management;
- Contribute to the development, subject areas and content, and the delivery of technical training programs as coordinated between other Technical Services Veterinarians, Product Managers, Regional Sales Managers and the Business Unit Director;
- Handling our Company’s Animal Health products performance complaints; reporting product quality complaints and adverse events according to our Company’s Animal Health procedures
- Liaise with other Animal Health Technical Services Veterinarians, US Operations and Global departments concerning issues and opportunities;
- Liaise with the Regional Sales manager and sales team to improve the success of the Food Animal Business Unit. This includes providing scientific information and training with the goal to support the field force in building customer relationships.
- In collaboration with the Technical Services, Marketing and Sales teams as required, design and implement initiatives and activities related to Key Opinion Leaders, Universities and Key Accounts.
- Travels on client calls with and without field representatives on a regular basis to support the Swine team with responsibilities mainly for western Canadian segments; however some support for all of Canada will be required;
Requirements:
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine, with veterinary license in Canada
- Previous veterinary practice (private or industry) with emphasis in swine production medicine and post DVM specialization in Swine Medicine, Epidemiology or Population Medicine desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Required to travel at least 50 – 60% of the time in western Canada
- Willing to travel across Canada, to the U.S.A. and potentially International meetings
- Must have a valid driver’s license
