In 2020, the AASV Foundation provided $23,256 to Drs Edison Magalhaes and co-investigators at Iowa State University to fund the project, "Measuring the effect of diseases on the productivity of growing pigs raised in field conditions." The overarching goal of this project was to develop an automated on-going model to allow veterinarians to measure disease-associated determinants of swine wean-to-finish mortality. A final report has been submitted and results are being prepared for submission to a peer-reviewed publication. Two presentations were made at the 2021 AASV Annual Meeting: Consolidating diverse and dispersed datasets to reveal production system-specific drivers of swine performance under field conditions and Measuring the effect of disease on closeout performance.
