Penn State Extension to Host Swine Health Short Course

A swine health short course for producers and supporting industry will be held virtually March 22-24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

This continuing education program, hosted by Penn State Extension with support from the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council, will focus on managing pig herd health with prevention of illness on the farm. Experts in pig physiology, disease management, nutrition, genetics and daily pig care will be on hand to discuss resources available.

The course will focus on optimizing immune function through selection and husbandry, and minimizing exposure to diseases through biosecurity and health management.

Registrants will receive a pig health box in the mail with educational materials and animal health management tools.

Cost to participate is $15. Registration is requested by March 15 and can be done at bit.ly/SwineHealth or call 877-345-0691.
