The Swine Health Information Center and American Association of Swine Veterinarians webinar series focuses on "industry chatter" relating to swine health. Practitioners may benefit from hearing about how others are dealing with these emerging or difficult-to-manage health issues.
The August edition of the Swine Disease Reporting System reported a large jump in the number of coccidiosis cases coming into the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Lab during July. With limited therapeutic options, management strategies become even more important. All are invited to a webinar on coccidiosis in swine being held on Thursday, September 3, 2020, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm CDT. The webinar will include Drs. Jeremy Pittman, Smithfield Hog Production – North Region, and Amber Stricker, Suidae Health & Production, sharing their experience with coccidiosis including management design, strategies, and interventions. Dr. Kent Schwartz, Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, will share clinical presentation and diagnostic information. And Dr. Robert Friendship, University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College, will provide a Canadian perspective as well.

SHIC 2020 Webinar Series
The December 2019 viral myelitis webinar and a webinar on hemorhagic tracheitis on April 2, 2020, provided information on these two syndromes – their clinical presentation and signalments, tissues for postmortem assessment, and management. Both webinars were recorded and are available on the SHIC website for review. The intent of the webinars is to inform practicing veterinarians and share information about current emerging or difficult to manage swine health issues. The plan is to respond in a timely manner to questions and cases practitioners face, providing resources as well as other veterinarian’s discussion and experience.
