SMEC Seeks Participants for Free Antimicrobial Susceptibility Training through AASV Foundation Funded Project

Would you like an opportunity to be better prepared for the FDA CVM’s future antibiotic use plans and antimicrobial resistance stewardship requirements? Through a 2019 AASV Foundation-funded project, the Swine Medicine Education Center (SMEC) at Iowa State University has created a free, online training platform to provide participants with a behind the scenes bacteriology tour, additional training on antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and some general tools to better interpret susceptibility reports.

SMEC is looking for swine veterinarians and veterinary students to participate! Participants can complete the online training at their convenience. Training should also only take about 1 hour to complete. Within the training, participants will be asked questions based on actual bacteriology cases while being provided various versions of susceptibility reports.

Please contact Megan Nickel at mnickel@iastate.edu or Locke Karriker at karriker@iastate.edu if you would like to participate or have further questions!
