AASV and the Swine Medicine Education Center (SMEC) at Iowa State University (ISU) are excited to extend the invitation for all AASV members to view the Swine Medicine Talks: An AASV and SMECast Series for Veterinary Students!
The Swine Medicine Talks are a 3-part swine medicine seminar series, hosted by the AASV student chapter and SMEC at ISU and funded by the AASV student recruitment committee. The series is currently available by live audio/video stream to other veterinary schools across North America and to AASV members, and it is completely free! All you need is internet, the free Zoom application (which you will be prompted to download when you join the meeting below), and audio and video on your computer.
The next lecture will be Tuesday, Apr 7, at 6PM CDT. Dr. Brina Lopez will be presenting on "Management of Aggression and Select Diseases in Pet Pigs" for our third, 2019-2020 Swine Medicine Talks Webinar. Dr. Brina Lopez is an Assistant Professor in Food Animal Medicine at Midwestern University (MWU) in the department of Pathology and Population Medicine. A native of Colorado, Dr. Lopez completed her veterinary training at Colorado State University. She then completed an equine rotating internship in Florida at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala, followed by a combined large animal internal medicine residency and Ph.D. program at the University of Georgia. During her residency training, Dr. Lopez developed a special clinical interest in pet pigs, a passion she has continued to pursue since joining MWU. Dr. Lopez’s personal ambition is to improve veterinary care for these animals by enhancing the knowledge of the veterinary community in pet pig medicine and by encouraging responsible pet pig ownership through comprehensive client education.
