Have you ever considered serving the AASV in a governing role? Or is there a member you would like to see in a leadership position within AASV? Take note:
Four AASV District Directors will be completing their second term of office in 2020 and will not be eligible for re-election. New directors will be elected to fill the positions that will be vacated by Dr. Gene Nemechek in District 2 (Southeastern U.S.), Dr. Bill Hollis in District 5 (Illinois and Wisconsin), Dr. Jeff Kurt in District 9(Minnesota and North Dakota), and Dr. Blaine Tully in District 11 (Canada).
Potential candidates must be Active (veterinarian) AASV members residing in the district. (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote.) Nomination cards will be mailed to voting members in each district at the end of the year. The two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.
Each newly elected director will be invited to attend the spring 2020 board meeting in a non-voting capacity and will serve a three-year term of office that begins at the conclusion of the meeting.
The AASV district directors (eleven in all) along with the officers form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually in the spring and fall to set policies and conduct association business. The AASV reimburses travel expenses to attend the board meetings. Occasionally, the board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions.
