Harry Kaiser at Cornell University conducted an economic analysis of the National Pork Board’s Checkoff Program. This video describes the findings of this analysis. The researcher evaluated the 5 key activities funded by the Checkoff Program: domestic advertising, domestic promotion, export promotion, new product development research and farm-level production research. The analysis estimated the return on investment for each of these activities. According to the results of the study, the production research category provided a whopping 83:1 return on investment!
