A (Practice) Tip or Two for You …

Each year at the AASV Annual Meeting, the “AASV’s Got Talent” Practice Tips seminar shares useful information to benefit the "boots-in-the-barn" veterinarian. While there are no formal proceedings papers for these practice tips, the participants have made their presentation slides available as part of the Swine Information Library. If your membership in the AASV is current, you can access them here: https://www.aasv.org/library/swineinfo/series_index.php?id=12#121. Presentations include:

  • Finding the right job — Chelsea Scheidler
  • Producer compliance: Checking without being a pest — Erin Nonos
  • Work/life balance: A gentleman’s perspective [3rd place] — Brian Payne
  • Clinic management of VFD’s and Rx’s — Wesley Lyons
  • Mixing vaccines — Mike Strobel
  • Applying how adults learn to your on-farm interaction — Sarah Probst Miller
  • Preventing practice burnout: Keeping it fresh [2nd place] — Gavin Yager
  • Tips to keeping yourself on the field with electronic sow feeding — Pete Schneider
  • Work/life balance: A lady’s perspective [1st place] — Amber Stricker
  • Piglet hydration therapy — Jake Schwartz
  • The ingenuity of farm and system staff: Turning problems into solutions — Emily McDowell

AASV extends its sincere thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Harker, who organized and chaired the seminar, and to the presenters for their willingness to share their knowledge and experience with their AASV colleagues, both at the meeting and online.
