Position Announcement: Assistant or Associate Professor in Swine Health Management

The Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the Université de Montréal is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in Swine Health management in the Département de sciences cliniques.

The Faculté de médecine vétérinaire is in St-Hyacinthe, the agricultural capital of the province of Quebec with 53 000 inhabitants. It is a 45-minute drive from Montreal’s vibrant downtown and 120 minutes from the beautiful historic Quebec City. (http://www.ville.st-hyacinthe.qc.ca/tourisme/le-tourisme.php). Although our Veterinary college is located off-campus, strong collaborative ties with the Université de Montréal are in place. A structured mentorship program is also available for newly hired professors.

The swine industry is highly dynamic in Quebec and ranks second among animal productions. Interactions with various professional groups and organizations in the pork industry, as well as with well-established and recognized research groups within the Faculty offer great opportunities for collaborative research and outreach programs.

Duties

  • Teach swine medicine to undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Participate in clinical teaching and service in swine health management at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire (CHUV);
  • Develop research activities in swine health management;
  • Participate in outreach activities within the field of swine medicine (publications, conferences or other activities) and continuing education;
  • Contribute to the overall functioning of the University.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent;
  • PhD degree or equivalent;
  • Strong interests and abilities in teaching, clinical service and research;
  • License to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Quebec (Canada) issued by the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec;
  • Candidates must be able to communicate in French or be willing to learn French.*
